Our vision is of a respecting, just, equal and inclusive Scotland in which all children and young people can live free from bullying and harassment and are encouraged to reach their full potential.
Aims
We aim to achieve our vision by working with all adults to build their confidence and competence to deal with bullying behaviour. We will:
- Listen to and learn from children and young people who have experienced bullying and embed their needs and wishes in the work that we do;
- Provide leadership in the development of nurturing schools, families and communities where all stakeholders have enhanced responsibility to address the reasons for and impact of bullying;
- Promote pro-social behaviour amongst children and young people by encouraging them to change their behaviour, develop resilience and value difference;
- Challenge bullying, stigma and discrimination at an individual, school, family, community and societal level to promote mental health, well-being and safety for all children and young people;
- Develop a shared response to bullying, which is rights-based and delivered through integrated public, voluntary and private services;
- Ensure the inclusion of children and young people whose experience is affected by perceptions of their disability, gender, sexual orientation, race or ethnicity, religion or belief.
- Create an appetite for change and innovation by demonstrating the positive impact of strategies and the long-term benefit to children, young people and society
