Sport and Bullying
Sport is adored all the world over. It has the unique power to unite people by creating shared joy, breaking down cultural barriers, and building common ground across different groups. However, bullying in sports remains prevalent. From critical and personal comments to humiliation over performance, racism, homophobia and sexism, bullying can happen at every level and across all disciplines.
The impact of bullying behaviour erases self-esteem and can leave children and young people feeling hurt, humiliated and left out of a sport they once enjoyed with friends and peers.
