Bullying – A Guide for Parents and Carers

Discovering your child is being bullied, or is involved in bullying others, can be an anxious time for everyone.

You don’t need to be a mental health expert to support your child’s wellbeing. You can support children best by listening first and foremost and responding in a calm and non-judgmental manner whilst letting them know you are there to help them resolve things.

This course has been created to support you to understand and respond to bullying. It has been designed to give you practical skills to increase your confidence to support your child.

  • Describe what bullying is
  • Recognise and understand types of bullying behaviour and its impact
  • Recognise the role of prejudice in bullying
  • Understand unhelpful attitudes and responses to bullying
  • Apply a children’s rights-based approach to supporting children affected by bullying to regain their power
  • Develop your understanding and ability to engage and advocate for your child
